As we look ahead to spring, we are beginning to prepare for another busy baby season at Procyon Wildlife. While we are hopeful that the influx of orphaned wildlife will arrive later rather than sooner, we know how quickly the season can begin — and we want to be ready.
Over the coming weeks, we will be focusing on preparing the centre for the many young animals that will soon be in our care. If you have spare time during your shifts, please begin organizing and cleaning nurseries, checking supplies, and helping ensure that all areas are ready for intake. Your attention to detail now makes an enormous difference once admissions increase.
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of our staff roles, so we can continue to work efficiently and respectfully as a team:
- Crystal is our Director of Animal Care Welfare. She is fully responsible for overseeing the welfare of all animals in our care.
- Angel has joined us full-time on a one-year contract as Animal Care Assistant, working directly alongside Crystal.
- Linda continues as our Volunteer Coordinator, managing all volunteer scheduling and overseeing our social media.
- Angela leads our special projects, graphic designer and promotional initiatives.
- Pam is our website administrator, and keeps us up-to-date on the latest IT & Data management.
- Annette is the editor of our monthly newsletter. If you have animal stories, updates, or photos to share, please submit them to Annette for review and inclusion.
- Sarah serves on our grant committee, is our hotline manager, intern coordinator as well as providing animal care & fostering.
- Peter is our Maintenance and Animal Support Manager, keeping our centre safe and caging secure while maintaining the property. Also stepping in for animal care when we are short shifted.
- And then there is myself — Custodian, education program, fundraising, and overseeing daily operations to keep Procyon Wildlife running smoothly.
We are also actively training many new volunteers. If you are senior staff or an experienced volunteer, please offer guidance and support as new team members transition into their animal care roles. A welcoming and supportive environment strengthens our entire organization.
Thank you all for your continued dedication, compassion, and teamwork. Procyon Wildlife could not do this important work without you. Let’s gear up for a successful and well-prepared 2026 baby season!
