Protocols and Friendly Reminders

By Procyon Volunteer on February 24, 2025February 24, 2025
As we navigate the final weeks of the winter season, please take note of the following important protocols:
  • Animal Safety:  Until further notice, keep Edgar, Lenore and Bagheera inside their enclosures due to the snow.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):  All volunteers must wear gowns, gloves, masks, and foot protectors while working with wildlife, as required by Public Health Ontario.  This is essential for your safety and the health of the animals.
  • In Case of Animal Bites:  If you are bitten by an animal, not just rabies vector species, it is mandatory to report it immediately.  Please contact a Director (Debra, Crystal, Sarah or Linda) without delay.
  • Enclosure Security:  Until the weather warms up, please do not use padlocks on the enclosures.  Instead, ensure they are closed and securely latched but left unlocked.  The padlocks are freezing making them difficult to open in the mornings.
  • Back Door Access:  Due to the snow, do not lock the back doors of the Squirrel and Raccoon Runs.  Maintaining a second entry point is important for safety and accessibility.

Thank you for your cooperation and dedication to keeping everyone safe!
